Well
the 'Legendary Larriers' have done it again!! Each year the boys work with
Derek from Localise and a selection of volunteers from PWC, designing a
‘Caring for the Community’ project.
The aim of the Localise project is to
develop the skills and talents of the boys and to help them understand the
importance of teamwork and how to plan, manage and implement a project - and it
has always been fantastic, so far we have helped raise money for Temple Street
Hospital, The Simon Community and Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (you can see our work
in older posts!).
This
year the boys decided to raise money to purchase a defibrillator for the new
clubhouse of our local GAA club, St. Joseph's / O' Connell's Boys, right across
the road from the school.
The boys organised an event in which people could buy
'A Minute to Save a Life'. Even county football stars such as Eamon Fennell
(Dublin) and the superb maverick talent that is Ciarán Lyng (Wexford)
participated with a large number of PWC people and students to score as
many goals as they could in one minute. It was a fantastic event and well done
to all the 'Larriers' once again, another really super 'Caring for the
Community' project!
As proud as I am lads, you should be even prouder. You have made a real difference, your hard work, dedication, commitment and planning could save a life one day, one of the greatest things anyone can do. Another fantastic achievement lads, really well done. Mr. O' L
